Default Thank You!

Now thats what I'm talking about....

Thank you for the comments and the input gentlemen!

Luke,
I used the Fiddlers Green A-7 paper canopy. Not qiute what I wanted but it works!
Also the nose cone I made on my wood lathe for an Astron Midget clone. It looks better on the A-7. I started this project last fall and did not know of the Snarky until a few weeks ago,(my honey got it for me for V-day) so I'm planning a larger size using a BT-55 for the body and 'borrowing' the Snarky idea(Thanks Shrox)
I have a few other planes in mind that I think would make a nice transition into rockets.
The B-58 Hustler is one of many I am planning on converting into rockets. Stay tuned!

EV,
I did not know about the Crusader rocket or NC or I would have used that(still will) as a clone build and attach wings and correct tail feathers. Acually I will build it as a Crusader instead of the A-7 because it has the ventral fins below the tail feathers.

Wallyum, patience young padiwan...patience.

Bob, Can I call you Bob? I used 1/16 medium Balsa with 1/8 triangle stock where the sides meet the bottom. Yes it is plenty strong and total weight of the rocket is a tad over an ounce(32 grams) without a motor. I added 3/4 of an once with a screw eye and lead weight to the nose so now it weighs almost 2 ounces. I can't swing test it (no place to tie the string) But I did check the CG and it is close to where it should be.

If it flies, I'll do a short build thread and maybe someone will make an up-scale version.

Daniel

What's a "fiddlers green A-7 paper canopy"?? Got a link??

It looks REALLY good... I like that as well or better than the "crusader swing-wing' canopy to be honest, though the plastic cone is probably tougher...

Great job! OL JR

Default Launch!

Ookla , Ariel....Tomorrow we Launch!

Hopefully the A-7 will fly. If it does, I will do a larger, detailed build or just clone the current rocket. Will see.

This is the E-mail The club proctor sends before a launch.

It is with great joy and jubilation that I have the extreme pleasure to announce we have a launch this Saturday. No mind you, the weather will be nice, mid 60s with a light breeze. I am feeling much better and look forward to seeing many of you there. Period done.

Daniel

Default She Flies!

She Flies

We had a near perfect launch day in SW FL.
The FLASH rocketry club had their launch day and except for a dead battery(which took two hours to determine) all went well!

I launched my A-7(frist launch of the day)!
I used an A8-3. A perfect launch!
It did not go very high and landed ten feet from the launch pad. Success!(see video)

http://www.youtube.com/user/dlazaru...u/2/XhMKpNbUZXA

2nd launch, I used B6-4, again a perfect launch, nice touchdown. I was happy!(see video)

http://www.youtube.com/user/dlazaru...u/1/IMzKNCcdZmQ

3rd launch I used C6-3. A perfect launch again, but at about 300 feet, it went horizonital and flew like a jet and then climbed again! It landed about 500 ft away from the launch pad.
It was determined that it need a little bit more of nose weight for a C6-3 motor..Approximatly 1 oz. (30 grams) I had less than 3/4 of an ounce in the nose.

I wiil follow up with video and pics!

Daniel

The last pic shows both my A-7 and my Lexxjet Jr. in a duel liftoff. Pretty exciting!

Very nice. Looks pretty in the air. You still going to do an upscale with the Crusader Swing-Wing cone?

Later,
EV
