Estes motors did not have plugs until some time in the 90's.
Prior to that you used masking tape or a small ball of wadding jammed in the nozzle to hold the igniter in place.

What's really sad is that at least one person bought from him. What a waste.

On the other hand, I've been selling them at $4.55 a pack. Time to raise the price, I guess.

No Rich, it's NOT time for you to raise the price !
You provide fine OOP products at very reasonable prices.
That guy is a rip-off jackwagon.
I think most would agree that one would have to be a real numbskull to pay the prices this BOZO is asking.

They are available here for $4.99

http://hobby1.com/store/product/167...-BOOSTER-STAGE/

While in the UK they can be had for £9.99.

The lady doth protest too much methinks.

Good grief that guy has a bunch of these up in separate auctions. One pack has a clearly shown date code that indicates 1994 as the year of manufacture (Y) and another 1995 (Z). They have varying prices for "buy it now" too. Sheesh.

There is a rumor that Estes will be making a fresh batch... if only we had a 'Motor Group' we could discuss it there.

A10's are available for people flying FAI stuff this summer... I think I willl just wait for Estes or buy from the FAI making them available for people flying events that require them...

I couldn't stand it so I sent the guy a comment telling him that the date codes in the pictures are for 1994 and 1995. I wrote

Dear thomcomstock,

You are representing these as from the 1970s. The date codes shown on the motors in your images show that they were made in 1994 (letter Y in the middle of the code) and 1995 (letter Z in the middle). Perhaps an update to the listings should be made.

That is an interesting observation, but one that I must take issue with. I purchased these in the early 80s.

I would also mention that these were not in production in the 90s. Production ended in the late 70s. The reissued A10-0T motors were just released earlier this year by Estes' new owner.

Best regards,

Thom Comstock

Kinda clueless.....

Bernard,

DUDE ... come one based on the price and a couple pages of his PURE auction hype, I realized this guy was CLUELESS

That is the problem with most people who sell model rocketry materials ... they really don't appreciate nor understand what they have. They see a re-bagged Astron Scout sell for $200, so then ALL Astron Scouts are now worth $200.00 [SIC]!

Then there is that guy who didn't like his price on the uprated Sat 1b so he lowered his reserve price from $700.00 down to just a mere $400.00!

I still am trying to secure a bank loan for that $15,000.00 Estes Saturn V on Amazon.com!

Invite him to visit this thread.

Oh, and remind him that motors were sold in blue diamond tubes in the late 70's, then went to the pink cardboard blister packs in the early 80's. His motors are a couple of packaging generations past the 70's.

Easiest solution would be to see if a motor manufacturing code is visible in his photos. That would answer the question once and for all (although I know for a fact that the "Cobra" line was a 90s thing - I've got a bunch of those motors I bought a couple years ago.

Greg

Can anyone else make it out better - looks like 14 Z 5 to me.
