View Full Version : Shorter version of Estes Comanche 3? By Centuri maybe?

Back in the 70's, my dad built a 3 stage rocket. The fin design looked a lot like the Estes Comanche 3, but the rocket wasn't nearly as long. The rocket is now long gone, and I'm trying to figure out what it was. I have been looking through JimZ's plans to no avail.

If I recall correctly, he was building that one while I was building my Centuri Stiletto 2 stager.

Any ideas? Was there a Centuri model that might have fit this description? I kind of remember a black and red paint scheme, and my dad and I were notorious for trying to use the recommended paint schemes on our rockets.

He was probably building an Arrow 300 (http://www.ninfinger.org/~sven/rockets/nostalgia/73cen70e.html).

It probably was the Centuri T-Bird, which was a 3-stage rocket similar to the Estes Astron Farside.
The T-Bird was a LOT shorter than the Comanche-3.
The Arrow-300 is nearly as long as the Comanche-3.
The Comanche-3 is 41" overall length whereas the Arrow-300 is 37" in overall length.
Hardly a LOT shorter being only a 4" difference.

Fin design of the T-Bird was similar to the Comanche-3; the fins on the Arrow-300 are nothing like the Comanche-3 fins.

They've already mentioned the T-Bird from Centuri.

How about the Estes Farside or Farside-X ???

You are correct - I had totally forgotten the T-Bird; probably because I never could find this kit at the hobby shop as a kid :(
