Estes Space Shuttle

Hi, Have an Estes Space Shuttle with the power pod. Last time I flew her, launched straight up with a bit of wind coming at me. She power looped with a C6-3 and ejected a foot or two off the ground. Thinking of trying a C5-3 and tilting INTO the wind to see if I can get a more vertical flight.
Got a GREAT flight using a C6-3 but with my CRS I don't recall HOW I set it up.
Any tips?
Thanks
Mark T

Use a minimum of a C5-3, better minimum of an Aerotech or Quest 18mm D.
A C6-3 is always lousy in the Space Shuttle.

I shredded one of those with an 18mm D21-4 motor about 25 years ago.

The first time I flew my Space Shuttle - on a C6-3 - it weathercocked badly and barely ejected in time to prevent a prang.
Next time it was on an Aerotech 18mm RMS D13-4W
Flight was arrow straight - to maybe 4x the altitude of the C6-3.
After that, the D13 was mandatory (I haven't flown it since the 18mm Q-Jet D's have been available).
If I ever build another Estes Space Shuttle (I have an opened kit sitting in my build pile - it just hasn't been a priority) it will be modified with a 24mm mount.

Which Shuttle?

From what the OP said about a 'pod' I would assume he's referring to the 1467 Shuttle Starter Set deal which had exactly that.

Had one myself and it was a DOG even on the old C5-3. Weighed like 8z which is obscenely heavy for even that motor.

Not sure if it would boost better on a higher thrust D something, I was going to build a special 24mm pod for that but said 'forget it' and made it for the SRX instead. THAT actually boosted and flew well with that pod upgrade.
