No BNC-50YR??!! Really??!!

I'm scratch building a #2007 Iris.

Am I just overlooking it or is there no BNC-50YR available? (balsa equivalent of the PNC-50YR, 4.125" ogive)

Just build a scale IRIS.

The iris NC is 6.3:1 while the pnc-50yr is 4:43:1

Ah so! Thanks.

I bet Sandman can do either for a fair price.

The Estes #20-078 IRIS is 1:13 scale. The PNC50-YR that comes with the #2007 kit is indeed 4.125" long, but the total length of the model's silver nose cone section is 5.00" because the model separates for recovery 1" above the silver section. Therefore, what I might do is cut the BT50 at the top bands, glue the 4.125" nose cone into the .875" long piece of BT50, and then use a BT50 coupler for the shoulder.

This also make it easier to paint.

It looks like the Semroc BNC-50GS mght be what I need to top off this scratch build. I'll cut .875" from the BT50 at the top band section.

Yes, I thought that has a good profile too.

It's just a BCH short--but I'm not making a museum piece.
