They should give the C6-3 the boot now. There is nothing the C6-3 does that the C5-3 doesn't do better.
Now if we could get the C5-0 and B8 series back...

Yes, the C5-3 is better as long as we don't get batches that go boom this time. There's no advantage to the C6-3 for something heavy enough to use that delay.

I'm looking forward to seeing how full the casing is this time around. IIRC, there wasn't enough room for a 5 or 7 second delay on the original motors. My motors were filled nearly to the top. With today's less efficient BP, the C5-3 may be filled right to the edge.

Yeah, I suspect these new Super C's are gonna be slap full to the brim! It's a shame too there's not more room for delay material, as I recall back in the day when the Super-C's were first introduced how nice a C5-9 or such would be in smaller rockets. Kinda like the B4-6. That was such a great motor in smaller rockets! Of course, in those smaller ones it was easy enough to loose them on C6-7's; a C5-9 or similar would have only made that problem worse, I suppose.

In any event, it is good to know the C5 is returning, and, just as important, that Estes really does seem to be listening to the mumbles from the masses! THAT is very refreshing to see!

I just looked thru the catalog, before coming here. Wow, lots of new stuff!

The back page shows the new products — impressive for sure. There are 12 shown, but several new kits are not pictured.

Last year I tried to freeze my inventory to 150 kits. It’s crept to 170. What the heck, I’m drawing the line at 200.

I average building 10 kits a year
There are more than 10 new kits that I want.....

I don't know about that. I've been using C6-3s in my Estes Interceptor, as it seems to have a fair bit of arcing and the C6-5 deploys rather late. Last launch, it was rather windy and I put a C6-3 in it and wow, serious arcing, and the rocket deployed its parachute about 200' off the ground (guesstimate). Had I used a C6-5, that rocket would have been a lawndart.

We are talking about a C5-3 vs a C6-3, not a C6-3 vs C6-5.

The new C5-3 has a little bit more total impulse and higher initial thrust. It will be great for the Interceptor, Mercury Redstone, and other heavy 18mm rockets.

I know it says "NEW C5" but that data is from March of 1995. I would assume that the new production will be nearly identical, but Mama taught me not to assume.
