eRockets

Took a trip to Ohio (Springfield) for the holiday to visit with my mother. Since I wanted a few things from eRockets, I checked with Randy to make sure they would be open and decided on a little side trip to Dayton.

So, I get there Friday afternoon and walk in the front door and found the most AWESOME hobby shop I've ever been in. Rockets, rockets and more rockets!

The day troops (Randy was out) must have noticed that "kid in the candy shop" look on my face and gave me a tour of the place.

Rocket collections hanging from the walls. Upscaled models everywhere (how big can you build a Blue Bird Zero?), kits hanging on pegs and shelves, and parts galore! Three-d printers, laser cutters and computer controlled Dremels for cutting balsa nose cones. Dremels! Of course, I added the one they demonstrated for me to the growing list of purchases. Just amazing.

After leaving my wife sitting in the car for 30 minutes, I decided I needed to cut the tour short (I think we only covered half the place), loaded up the one item I stopped for (and a few impulse buys) and headed to Springfield. All the while, thinking to myself, I sure wish I bought that NCR kit, and that Newway kit, and that Rocketorium kit and some body tubes and that.......

Thanks Randy and the great team of guys at eRockets. Wasn't as great as seeing my mother but was easily second!

I visited erockets a few months ago while on a job in Dayton. It’s a wonderful place and Randy was a gracious host.

Hmm, a little less than 450 miles one way. I see a motorcycle ride to Dayton when I retire....IF I ever get to retire!

My wife and I visited eRockets on a Build nite, right before NSL-2018 in Geneseo. Besides having a great visit with Randy and his gang, I finally met Bill Eichelberger.

tbzep,
That alone is worth the drive for you! :p

What would the chances of being able to park my 18 wheeler near by Randy's shop?

Personally I wouldn’t try it in with a semi. To get to the current location you have to make several turns on city streets off of I75 and the current location seems to be in “The Hood”. —-at least that’s the impression I got, but then, I’m not from Dayton.

 Greatness might be a bit strong. Honestly, okayness is even stretching things a bit.
