Mini Der Red Max

Available now on the Estes site:

https://estesrockets.com/collections/der-red-max-series

https://estesrockets.com/collection...ini-der-red-max

It appears to be unchanged from the previous release, except they are using a new 002100 part number for the kit, while the instructions still use the old 2445 p/n.

I haven't been home to check yet, but I believe that nose cone is the same as one in the NC-50 kit.

I might actually build it with 18 or 24mm power. Which is kinda funny, because I have no plans to build any of my two DRM kits or three DBRM kits or several MDRM nose cones as Red Maxes.

Estes seems to be on a mini kick the past month or so it seems. This is what, like the third or fourth they have announced? The one subject of this thread, and also the Mini Bertha, Mini Arcas, Mini Alpha. Others I missed maybe?

Those are the four. They were all announced in the manufacturer's forum at vNARCON and are all in the 2024 catalog.

Ok, thanks. I just realized that I don?t think I ever downloaded the 2024 catalog. Or if I did, I did not really flip through it in any detail.

I did a 24mm Mini Max several years back. I painted it hot pink with the find flipped around. First flight on a C11 was in the corn in Cedarville, OH. CATO. There was a momentary cloud of hot pink right after detonation, then the hot pink snowfall. I came back with half of it. The rest was just confetti and spread all over the cornstalks. I didn't want to give up on it, so I took it home, pulled the fins off and made a new body tube. That one launched on a D12 and flew well, but on recovery it looked odd. That was because it had zippered all the way down to the engine block. Undaunted, I went through the process again and this time managed a perfect flight on a D12-7.

Was the Mini Arcas available yet? I saw it on the website, but it was out of stock. Did it really sell out THAT quickly?

BEC 05-31-2024 01:38 PM

It was. I had an order with a couple of them in the cart that I let sit for a few days, and when I went back to finish it, they were gone. *sigh*

My guess is they only held a few (hundred) out of the first production batch back from the big distributor orders and put them up on the site to build interest.

Just for reference, as of right now, the largest number of Mini Der Red Maxes I can add to my shopping cart on the Estes site is 269. I could see that selling out in a few weeks.

Only 269? :D

It used to be that you could enter an arbitrarily large number of an item and it would automatically adjust the number in your cart to the number available. Now, if you enter more than the quantity available, it just tells you you can't add more. You have to sneak up on it until the "+" button stops working.
