December 26, 2021 Launch
3 Attachment(s)
We're in Florida for the holidays and took the opportunity to do some flying.
My sister's boys are in college now but I have encouraged their rocketry hobby over the years. A quick search of the house turned up two surviving models, three packs of B6-4's, and a Quest launcher. The pad was missing it's central hub to attach the legs so I improvised with some wood scraps. I converted the launch control to 12 volts (something I should've done years ago) and a Mustang GT provided the battery. The only glitch was one igniter misfire. The models flew perfectly. 5 flights on the Big Bertha and 4 on the Mini Aero-Dart. Photo credits to my Brother-in-law. |

Looked like a GREAT day for flying!
|
I love the color scheme on the Bertha!
|
Glad someone got out. We had the temps and the dry field for flying, but when I left work yesterday the wind was howling. As usual, I have a big backlog of rockets that need flying, but Saturday we have a beanfield launch scheduled, so there's that.

REALLY like that scheme on the Bertha.
May finish my next Astron Ranger in a similar scheme. |
The appeal of that paint job was just dumb luck.
Leftover colors from the Fireball and some extra wraps from my Ranger. All thrown together years ago to make a quick birthday gift. Always wanted to use it again on something else. Picked up a Black Friday Boosted Bertha last month just so I could paint it the same way. :) |
You can't go wrong with bright red and yellow matched with deeply contrasting black or blue...or both!
I've always loved red/yellow/blue. I'm a Super Bubble guy...not Double Bubble. Remember when they came out with the equivalent 5 piece long stick? |
I don’t want to ‘jack the thread, but us kids in southern Michigan grew up on Bazooka Bubble Gum. We made a lot of dentists rich.
|
Bazooka gum is still available in some specialty candy shops in Michigan.
Usually near the Wacky Wafers and Cosmic Candy. |
