SpaceX to launch 105 Sats this Morning

"SpaceX is scheduled to launch a Falcon 9 rocket Thursday from Cape Canaveral with 105 satellites ranging from the size of a soda can to a washing machine.

Liftoff from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station is timed for 10:25:39 a.m. EST"

And landing the booster back at Canaveral from what I understand.

Heh, what was that stuff sliding around the top of the stage 2 nozzle? Unfortunately, we didn't get to see SECO-1 which would have shown that stuff go flying off.

Cool landing shots though.

The bits of white material? They have some of that almost every launch, but not so much that it wraps all the way around the turbine exhaust ring. It's probably insulation but on some flights it looks like frost.

Elon commented on it a while back. I'm pretty sure it is SOX.

Buildup of Oxygen Ice.

Sometimes you can see the chunks float free when the engine shuts down.

When they left the live feed, there were still 2 deployments that had not been confirmed. Any news on those?

I haven't looked for anything. Once the 2nd stage parks in orbit and the booster is on the pad, I'm pretty happy and go about the rest of my day.

They are deorbited or re-enter via drag, depending on the flight profile. Sometimes it's a half-orbit affair, sometimes its several weeks. They are not left to clutter the skies. That's what Starlink et al are for.

Speaking of, in the Starlink deployment videos, a ladder-looking thing floats off followed by the satellite. I sure hope that thing is on a tether instead of being space junk at the rate of one per satellite...
