Nostalgic finds...

Over the holidays while we were in Indiana, my wife and her sister and brother continued to sift through her Mom's stuff, since her passing on November 5, 2010. She had a LOT of stuff squirreled away.

My BIL found some interesting stuff that he set aside for me... there was some "Popular Mechanics" from 1940, 41, 42, and 43... they were mostly war and war industry reports, but there were some interesting tips to help folks fix their old stuff and keep it going since pretty much everything was focused solely on the war effort.

Here's another more "rocketry related" thing my BIL found and gave to me... it's a 4H rocketry pamphlet from 1971, the year I was born... he was in middle school or junior high at the time and was in 4H and got into rockets for awhile... even did a flight log in the back of the brochure...

SO, here for the reminiscence of the old folks, or for the edumacation of the young-uns, here's the scans of the brochure...

I'll have to do some work on the Apollo 11 moon landing newspapers he found and gave me... originals of the "Chicago Tribune" from 1969...

Later! OL JR

JR,

When you have time, send those scans to me at scott at rocketshoppe dot com and I'll put them together in a PDF to put up on YORP.

Nice to see that 4H promoted the use of the swing test for stability. Still the most reliable means to know where it is going to go.

What resolution do you want them at?? They end up about 24 megabytes in bitmap straight from my scanner, before I sent them through "Paint" and reduced them to 40% size and changed them to .jpg for posting...

You want them full res in .jpg format?? Should be quite a bit smaller than the bitmap file sizes...

Just lemme know...

Later! OL JR :)

Scott,
This document is already posted on ninfinger as .jpegs, just thought you may want to know. A .pdf would be cool though.

June 15, 1975

June 15, 1975 was Sunday, Fathers Day. I just turned 15 and went deep sea fishing with my then part-time employer. I won the pool for the largest fish caught buy a pregnant sea bass. I don't remember the weight, but I won over $100.00!
