MRI Starter Set / MRI History
No intention of high-jacking this thread, but I thought you guys who are interested in rocketry starter sets might find this one interesting too. A rare one for sure!

Ironically a set like that is the only thing from MRI I own, I probably got it from a mail auction in the late 80s. Love the little pad with dowel legs. |
The MRI Starter Set went for $191.38. It was a real beauty!

Having the words MRI and Beauty in the same sentence is OXYMORONIC.
I wouldn't offer 25% of that final price. |

:chuckle: I meant 'beauty' in the sense of a scarce collectable. Their rocket kits didn't measure up to Estes, although their engines were good. Joe |

Good to know. I have one in my collection. :D |
Except for the regrettable streamers, I liked MRI kits! They had those sturdy, sandable body tubes and good balsa.
I cloned a Lepus from Semroc parts a few years back, and have parts for a Lepus and a Zeus. |
I cloned a Lambda 8, Phobos, Theta 37 and Zeus recently. They're simple designs, but always get a "What?" when they're announced at the pads. Perfect B6-4 Field flights on an A8-3. Got any more MRI plans, Scott?

Bill,
Many people clone old, nostalgic, favorite rockets from our youth. Few clone old designs that nobody has ever heard of. We salute you! |
