RockSim database import

I just upgraded my Build 80 to Build 84, downloading the whole ~30 MB version after almost two hours on dialup.

The "RockSim database import" dialog box comes up, and WILL NOT RESPOND to any action except to clicking "Yes" to EACH AND EVERY COMPONENT!

"Yes to All" *doesn't* work. Please, Tim and Paul, MAKE IT *STOP!* (sobbing uncontrollably)

Please hurry. (sniffling, followed by all-out wailing)

.

Jay,

Rules To Follow RELIGIOUSLY for RockSim:
  • Rule #1: ALWAYS back up the current database files before an upgrade.
  • Rule #2: NEVER install the new version over the current version. ALWAYS install in a new folder.
  • Rule #3: ALWAYS take the full version and not the upgrade.
  • Rule #4: ALWAYS presume the download may take a serious dump before it finishes.
  • Rule #5: RE-READ Rules 1-4...

Try this:
  • Re-name the current folder with a number, or some other character to keep it out of the way;
  • Locate the new executable and do the CLEAN install to a new folder.
  • Locate our last-known-good SEMROC files here on the forum and drop them into the DATAIMPORT folder.

If this doesn't work, then you'll need to reinstall the previous build and try the full binary download option again. Something seriously crapped out during the first download.

Jay,

There is a folder in your RockSim folder called DATAIMPORT. There are
a whole bunch of files in there. Remove them from the folder. Don't
remove the folder, just move the files out of the folder. That will
solve the problem.

Craig, you fully realize this means there wil now be RS disciples, skeptics, and non-believers. (Oh wait, that's *already* true!) ;) :D

Well, at least I did *this* much. :o

Cheers,
There are 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary code, and those who don't. :p

And describing humanity in terms of polar opposites (either...or) is an example of binary thinking.

An example: either you remain on topic at all times when you post to YORF, or you waste members' time and bandwidth.... :o

Alrighty then, what were we talking about again? Oh, yeah, importing data into RockSim. Anyone care to do a (real) quick "RockSim For Dummies" description of the procedure? (For the sake of this RS dummy, at least?) (Please? )

Mark, I'd love to do "RockSim for Dummies," but I'm just not smart enough build a time machine to have enough time to do it. (Heck, I even mute TV commercials so I won't have to listen to them.)

Anybody else?
