Is That A PNC50SP???!!!
I don't have the kit yet, but on the new Estes Octavius is that the (elusive and highly desirable) PNC50SP?------or is it the sorta similar one that was used on the Screamin' Eagle?
|
It has the same part number as the Screaming Eagle which is 61299, identified in the S.E. as PNC-50E. And it looks like the SE cone :)
|
Having owned and made a few of the PNC-50SP cones in different scales, I can say positively the nose cone in the picture does NOT look like a PNC-50SP to me.
The PNC-50SP main body has a conical shape, the same as the K-50 Interceptor but smaller. The Octavius nose cone looks to me like an ogive shape. |

If you're interested, Meatball Rocketry has 3D printed PNC-50SP's available. A little pricey (in my CAD $'s) maybe. http://meatballrocketry.com/classic-nose-cones-2/ |
Just a LITTLE pricey in USD as well....

Notice they have sizes to fit the standard tubes...except a BT-50.  |
Mouldin oldies has a polyurethane copy:
PNc-50SP |
I noticed that too, Gordy.
All Estes tube sizes in that cone but the original BT50. The BT80 size was like $167.00. I don't tie that much up in any individual rocket other than vintage collectible kits. |

Here is picture of Octavius nose cone from the Estes website, and a Screaming Eagle nose cone from its instructions. They do look the same. |
