Is there a Clone of the Estes Pegasus #0806?
This a was jet fighter/drone style kit I built (poorly) as middle schooler. My model rocket is long since lost. This is a classic Mike Dorffler design.
Has anyone over the years re-released it or issued a clone of it? It seems a little complicated to scratch build. Thanks in advance! |

Oh, I think you could clone one without too much trouble - the plans/scans are here in Ye Olde Rocket Shoppe and Tango Papa has full waterslide decal sets for $12 - Stickershock has cut vinyl in the original size up to 7” diameter upsized! |
That morerockets kit is a BT-20 body tube and comes with an 18” parachute. That is going to be a pain to pack recovery gear. I’d upscaled it and use decals from one of the mentioned providers. (Tango Papa will do upscales, he did my decals for an upscaled Orbital Transport.)

TigerHawk! You are a YORF guy, too! :) |
I cloned this rocket years ago when I became a full time BAR back in 2008.
I upscaled to a BT-55 tube, the wings could not take the weight. My conclusion was a special plastic coupler that would allow you to bind the wings to the BT tube. |
Estes Pegasus 0806 RockSim file
I found a 1.00X RockSim file that may help upscale projects:

If you like 3D printing you can download the files to print the wing/engine unit.

I looked for a line drawing example in the Rocketry Handbook as well as the NAR Member Guidebook, to no avail. Instead, I substitute my attempt on my Estes Der Red Max as a humble example. Hope this helps! Cheers, |
In the old days, they would use peel and stick address labels to beef up the fin/body tube joint.

I started a small thread on the other forum "a few years ago" on the Estes Pegasus #0806 where I posted a 1:1 Rocsim file as well as BT-55 and BT-60 upscale Rocsim files. Reposted here in case you (or anyone else) would like to experiment with them.

Silkspan? Can you still get Silkspan? The last time I used Silkspan was over 30 years ago to cover a Comet British S.E.5. |
My LHS still carries Silkspan, Silk, Tissue, and Dope.
