1970 Fsi Catslog ??

I have not researched this. I got it in a lot of items years ago, and only until now, I found the Date. 1970. Plus FSI was in Louisville, Colorado here. Someone please help me know if these pages are an early catalog, and if the information here is needed Anywhere ? It has the old Engine designations/conversions. ( see pic 6). Is Anyone in need of this ? Dan.

FSI Fly Real Hi
Hi Dan , very cool what this looks like is pages for retail use ( Ring Binded ). this brings back fond memory's for me as it was way back then in 1970 I discovered FSI Model Rockets. At that time my Brother Bill and I would see who's Rocket would fly the highest. then Bill comes up with an ESTES Cherokee -D and and man did that rocket fly Hi. Well I was at a small hobby shop in down town Utica Michigan , there I found FSI Model Rockets for the first time. the shop owner sold me a FSI Penetrator and pack of E5-6 engines.
The next time Bill and I launched, well let me say this: the Penetrator was now the new SKY-HI Champion, it flew past the Cherokee-D and just kept going WOW. FSI has been one of my favorite Model Rocket Company's of all time. I still have several Built Models and even some Engines. the last time I launched an FSI Rocket it was a 2 Stage Star Gazer, I used FSI D20-0 to an FSI D20-6 both engines work perfect and the rocket was tracked to 3800+ feet. both stages where recovered. Not bad for engines that where 20 years old at the time. Neal |
That is beautiful stuff! I've seen some of those pages in the form of a scan of the 1968 catalog.
The earliest FSI catalog I had was 1974. It was actually a "Reese Industries" catalog, with FSI as a subtitle. I don't know how long they'd been owned by the Reese family by them. Many of pages were B&W versions of the pages shown. The kit photos in that were of ghostly white-painted models. I bought an OSO and a pack of D6 motors on my first order. Followed up by MANY more models and motors through the years, up to a 1990 visit to the Raytown "plant." I have a very early Nova kit, purchased built and since refinished, with a mimeographed (actually diito, the purple stuff) instruction kit. |

I liked their high-thrust motors when they worked.
The D18 and D20 were fairly reliable, the F100 was somewhat reliable, but the E60 was an over 50% cato TURD. |

If you have a desire to have an EXPLODING 1967 Centuri AEC Rocket, go ahead and try that E60-0 to E60-8 combo. Otherwise, I'd go with an Estes E16-0 to E16-8.

I didn’t know much about motor selection back then but I learned quickly that these weren’t on the recommended motor selection list for a reason. One nice long burn arcing cruise missile flight into the center of a parking lot on asphalt really far away from where I launched it. :o |
