They're not always "designs", occasionally upscales or hybrids. I was taking the masking tape off of one yesterday and the fin came away in pieces. Apparently the balsa was flawed or had a hairline crack. I put the new fin on, fill and sanded it today, so I should be able to get it painted tomorrow to get back on track. A lot of them are of the "Hey, these two parts fit together" school of rocket design.
