It isn't staying in there and going through repeated shearing. It's just got to lubricate for a few fractions of a second and it moves on to its next job as mosquito repellent. As long as it lubes a little and helps preserve the fuel a little more, it's good enough. That said, I do run synthetic in my truck and motorcycles where the oil gets abused.
