Default Mizuno Sinryu Type II rocket interceptor

Finished up one more RC RG this weekend.

Had always liked the Mizuno Sinryu Type II aircraft design that was conceived in the late stages of WWII, to combat the ever growing numbers of USAAF B-29s that were showing up over Japan. Never built. Another case of too little, too late.

The layout of the aircraft was well suited for a fun scale RC RG, using BT-80 tubing with a cut and tapered segment at the rear, a PNC-80K nose cone and 9MM and 6MM Depron flight surfaces. The canopy was adapted from a commercial RC aircraft canopy. RMS-RC E6 for motive power.

Decided to make the small canard non functional and treat the design as a simple flying wing with elevons. This has worked well for other models.

The finish is fairly minimal to keep the model fairly light. Some spackling of the foam where needed. Tamiya flat gray and flat olive drab for colors. Vinyl markings were self generated on my Cameo craft cutter. A few panel lines and a coat of clear flat.

Span is 28 inches and length is 21 inches. Hope to maiden in the next week or so.
