I will give the 18" diameter parachute a try on the next flight.

I found a relatively inexpensive source of colored plastic film material at WalMart the other day. It 's a plastic Table Cover 54" x 108" rectangle for $0.97. I reinforce the corners of the parachutes with clear package tape and use 100% Mercerized Cotton Crochet Thread size 10 for the shroud lines. I also string the lines in a nontwisted pattern (see attached diagram) and tie them through a size 5 Barrel Swivel I found in the fishing supplies at Walmart 12 for $1.36.
