![]() Just a launch brief. Recall the 2022 twelve days of Christmas deal? $16.19 for a Star Orbiter kit + D12-5 pack + 24/29 adapter. I bought 3, have built 2, and lost 1 on it's maiden F15-8 flight. After a near loss in a tree on it's first flight (E16-8), I've now flown it 6 times. Yesterday was on an F50-9 with a 9/27/1997 date code (61270). It lept off the pad, and soared to well over 2000'. It was a fantastic up flight, but then it arced over, and accelerated towards the ground. At maybe 200' the ejection charge finally fired - thanks to a 15' shock cord and streamer, there was virtually no zipper.
I estimate the 9 second delay was around 17 seconds. So while Blue Thunder may never get old, the delay elements sure do!

![]() It has been my general experienced with aged composites that the delays run long, sometimes very long. Seems the composite propellant ages ok, but the delay element material(s) seemingly don't.
