I track it via an RSS reader (Feedly on the web, and using the Reeder app on my iPhone). |

I'll download that to my iPad tonight and I'll check it out. I appreciate that suggestion. I was trying to look for RSS readers this past weekend but it seemed the descriptions for most of the apps I saw had a lot of options for posting and maintaining a blog where I'm just trying to find something pull some differnt sites in and track them from an app instead of having to visit each different website. I'll give Feedly a try thanks!

If you leave the thrust ring out you should easily be able to fly it with an FAA exempt low thrust H (under 240H120). JJ http://web.archive.org/web/20181121...otors/h120.html |

There is no thrust ring. Estes actually tells you to put a 1/4" wide wrap of masking tape around the front of the motor (7-8 wraps) to keep the motor from going up the tube. (Only 1/4" wide because you still put the retainer over the motor to keep it from kicking out at ejection). Old school stuff like we used to do all the time with high powered rockets!

This is consistent with the Star Orbiter and the Super Big Bertha....so I'm not surprised this one is done that way.

Neil this Feedly app for iOS is exactly what I was looking for, thanks so much for recommending that! I like the magazine layout and how you can add articles to a board to keep them together to find them quickly later like this Estes Doorknob build. I'm still learning some of the features but the free version of this app is working very well and I really like it.

Does anybody have a color photo of the actual Doorknob? I purchased a 3D-printed "boattail" on ebay (also bought 3D printed launch shoes, which are omitted from the Estes kit). Parts are very well done, with detail - particularly the fin brackets, airframe openings - nicely matching Peter Alway's drawings (Doorknob was in the ROTW 2002 Supplement, as well as Scale Bash). I'm assuming the brackets should be silver as depicted by the Estes decals, but wanted to confirm if possible.
I'll upload a photo of the printed parts later! Pretty cool if you want to "build a better Doorknob!" |
