I am curious as to how these pods stay attached and then are “jettisoned”. Looks like they might fall off or stay attached based on friction alone. Or, am I missing something?

Basically, yes, the pods stay attached based on friction. The idea is that two dowels and friction will hold each strap-on engine pod in place until the engine gases force the pods to jettison.

A rare kit you have there. Faithwalker has it right, an renamed SAI Pulsar. I had a Pulsar way back when, and it was cool to fly. Treed it on third flight.
