Do you have a part number for the key switch? I've found a few Arro Hart key switches and am trying to determine which, if any, are the correct one.

I assume that you can only remove the key from the switch in the Off position.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Jon

Yes, the key should only be removable in the off position. I actually acquired a second Centuri Professional panel that the key comes out only in the on position, but I think either the switch is defective or it was replaced and wired incorrectly by a former owner. It just doesn't make sense to have the key removable in the on position.

The key switches I have don't show a part#. The switch I used in my replica appears to be externally identical to what was used in the original. However it, nor any of the switches that I have retain the key in the on position, it might be they are a later version that lack that feature (key is missing notches).

I checked eBay today and there are several vintage type Arrow Hart switches available (not mine). I don't know if they have the 'remain in when on' type key.

NOTE : The LAST Photo clearly shows a "notch" in the key. Presumably, this is what makes it "non-removable" except in the "Off" position, when the slots line up . . . The 1561 Key DOES NOT have this "notch" !

Therefor, the "1561" switch is NOT the correct one. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the "specs" for these switches . . . An old catalog would likely be most helpful !

The problem is trying to determine the correct Part # .

If anyone can locate an old Arrow Hart catalog ( these switches were still available in the early to mid- 1980's, from what I've read.

This "MONSTER" exists, but the right switch type is no longer made, it appears. If you have "nothing better to do", have at it !

There is a possibility that I may have located the switch . . . (SWZ) 81715-L

Yeah, that appears to be it. The key on the newer one looks different obviously, but same part number and the key does lock in the on position. Good find!

I have an extra loose switch, but it is not real handy to check any part numbers on it. And I can’t recall right off hand if it locks in the on position or not.

Since the pandemic started our club started using, for our outreach launches, Estes controllers and pads in a "misfire alley" setup.

I thought it would be cool to make heavier-duty panels for the launches, and remembered this thread.

YIKES. The prices on the parts is astonishing! I was thinking of making six or seven (five "live," one spare, one for myself) units. The cost looks prohibitive.

I guess I could put together something with 20' extension cords, using the plugs and receptacles as safety keys and maybe some kind of lamp and button in a chunk of PVC pipe with end caps.

Has anyone looked into what it would take to replace the incandescent bulb with a nice bright LED? What size resistor would be necessary?
