Walt Disney World 50 years old today!
Walt Disney World is 50 years old today.
I have been 5 times. I hated it more and more each visit. My second visit I nickedname it Dick Me World. Just to get in was a triple digit price tag. If you get on a ride, more money. Now I do like Epcot Center, great food! My last visit I got to see and hear a BeeGee's concert. It was fantastic! Not being a big fan, these guys look, sounded and acted like the group. This show was after the two brothers pass away. There were tears in my eyes when the show ended. So I'll never go back. What do you think?

I have been there the same number of times, last was over 10 years ago.
I have had enough IRRITainment at ABUSEment parks for a lifetime. Lousy value for the outrageous ticket prices. For the totally ABSURD price they charge, it should include unlimited food/drinks. Wayyyyy too much time standing in lines, not nearly enough time RIDING the rides.

Living in Florida and having children I have been to ALL of the parks. The parks are a lot of fun for the kids, but standing in for up to 30-40 mins. to go on a 3min. ride is not my idea of fun.
The best deal we ever had was to Bush Gardens, 2 nights at the Wyndham and 3 days park passes. For my wife, two kids and myself was less than $500. I think that this was thru Costco, the best thing was I have friend that worked for America Eagle Beer Distributors and he gave me a hand full of free beer vouchers. You have to keep well hydrated in the Florida heat.

Out of all the Florida parks, I enjoyed Busch Gardens the most.
I don't even like Anheuser-Busch products, but Michelob Amber Bock is decent.

Disney World was fun when the kids were small, but after a couple visits, that was enough for me. They went with Mom and Grandma after that! Really enjoyed Busch Gardens the one time I went, and Cypress Gardens, when it was still old-school, before it became an "Adventure Park", and then Legoland.
Epcot was fun, got a kick out of the "English Pub" and the Beatles tribute band. Test Track was the best ride, though Soarin' was pretty good.

Agree Cypress Gardens was great when old-school too.
Disney is a giant ripoff. Universal's City Walk of Bars/Restaurants is free of BRATS at night and is fun. I find "Test Track" at Epcot REALLY LAME as I get to drive on the REAL TEST TRACKS it is modeled after. 850HP ZR1s are really fun.

I worked at theme parks for over 30 years, 25 years off and on at Walt Disney World.
One employee perk is you get free parking, admission and discounts while in the park. You get a little spoiled not having to pay but rarely use it because you really don't want to be at your work locale on your day off. Now they ask $25.00 to park your car, $159.00 per adult admission. Never would I ever pay that to wait in lines. But - a new program puts you nearer the front of the line for an additional $15.00 per person! Never - no NEVER!
