And a few more pictures from today. It's about 95% complete, lacking the overhead door installation and final grading. Charlie and I will do the interior finish out, time and money governing the schedule. Lots yet to do with electrical service next on the list.

And I still haven't finished painting the Skonk Wulf by Shrox! It's not a good idea to get in a hurry at my age.

Ted,

I read this from the beginning, hoping to see the completed model by the end. Good grief!

I have the Plan Pak, so I've been thinking I should start one soon. Any chance of shaming you towards completion?

I bought a can of the Afrika Mustard awhile back, on a whim. Mostly, I liked the name and the mental images it created. Maybe I'll use it on mine.

Well, it's sorta, kind of one of them there shaggy dog stories. I'm still fighting the shingles, Charlie's building project is on hold, it's hotter than Slick Willie's zipper and I'm just about ready for the eternal dirt nap.

Consider me shamed!

I can always count on you to make me laugh ...

"Hotter than Slick Willie's zipper", now that's an weather analogy I will use at the next opportunity.

Please get well soon, you're way too young for that "eternal dirt nap".

By the way, my first big rocket was the NCR Patriot, built back in 1992. It got the top of the tube crunched and was dramatically shortened. I nicknamed it Slick Willie. Only folks around our age probably remember the nickname. I dusted it off, repainted it, and flew it at NSL, just a couple weeks past the 25th anniversary of its first flight. It was flown on a very old G64 reload, and had a premature ejection, but did survive, although it suffered a bit of tube zippering.

I swear this is a true story!

So you're telling me that Slick Willie had a Premature Ejection resulting in a Zippering? Maybe you should donate it to the Smithsonian?

I missed your reply and question. Slick Willie is getting some cosmetic surgery and should be ready to be back in the game in another week or so. I have this urge to hang onto Slick Willie; he always provides some drama at launch time.

September 5, 2019 will mark five years since I began building the Skonk Wulf by Shrox. At my age, why hurry?

So here's where I am five years later. Finished painting is as done as I can get it and all this baby lacks is the decals.

I hope to have my Saturn V finished by the 60th anniversary of Apollo 11.

Lookin' good!

Yes, it is good to realize ther ARE more, upcoming Apollo 11 anniversaries to look forward to. I too hope to have a flyable Saturn V completed for one of those future events...but I'm not going to nail myself down to a specific one!

Ted,

I hope we both survive long enough to see this one sporting decals, and, maybe even a launch picture!

I was looking thru a 3-ring binder of all my loose decal sheets the other day, and stumbled upon the Skonk Wulf. I really should dig out the Plan Park and start cutting some balsa, at least.

Unlike Earl, I’ve got to pick an Apollo 11 anniversary to have all my Saturns built by. I was thinking 75th, so as not to rush it too much. Then I did some math. I’d be 92 then! Looks like I better have them all built and painted by the 60th anniversary.
