I like the lower CG and the assembly method. It appears the mold design precluded a form fitting notch. I think the instructions should suggest the use of optional sand bags on the legs. Can it accept 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4" rods?

Looking forward to the controller close-up pictures.

Speaking of kit talk we updated the Hi-Test 3100 page in anticipation of the new Estes 29mm BP motors.

Thank you for posting those images! The inter-locking legs & hub arrangement is reminiscent of the way some ground plane antennas are put together.

A few notes about this design.

It has a MUCH lower center of gravity then the older pad.
The more the rocket weighs the more stable the pad becomes
This pad will stabilize a large 18mm powered rocket (like the Big Bertha) in over 10-12 mph winds
It’s also worth noting that the blast deflector is held a little tighter with the new 3deg taper mount.

Cheers,

Grimracer

Picture shows my prototype pad (the little one was inspired from).
