Good looking product. Would love to hear results if anybody tries them out. Do they ignite on continuity-level current like the old FSI electric matches? That was always fun. Put in the old safety key and WHOOOSH, she was gone!

BTW, and this is nothing personal to anybody, but I loathe the term "starter." What PC Nazi decided that "igniter" was a bad word? I can tell you I have only seen the word "igniter" (not "starter") used for real-world engines (e.g., RL10) and motors (e.g., GEM63, AJ60). The word used on this company's website is 'initiator," which is pretty good too. We use the term "initiator" when referring to ordnance devices. But "starter?" No way.

I think somebody said in another thread the Russian word for "igniter" was "starter." That's no reason to adopt it over here. Igniter? YES! Initiator? Sure. Starter? Heck no!

Yeah, I gotta agree “starter” just doesn’t do it for me, either. The word sounds just too anemic for rockets. After all, isn’t that what what’s under the hood of that good, old-fashioned internal combustion engine ‘thing’ out on the driveway? THAT is a starter. Rockets, as you state, get up and going with an IGNITER!!

Gotta keep the BATFE happy. We can't afford to keep paying lawyers to kick their asses in court.

I ordered some of these yesterday and they shipped today. I'll be very interested in how they perform compared to their old BP igniters. I don't think I've had a single failure while using them in my BP cluster birds.

I am totally surprised that folks haven't used these before. Outside of Quick Burst (one of The Best), these work great.

“Igniters” fall under the purview of the BATF. (Or at least, the BATF decided they do). People can WHINE about that till they are blue in the face, not gonna change anything.

But it seems if a rocket company calls them “starters”, then there is no problem.

Also this is why the Estes Solar Ignitors went from a pyrotechnic coating to a non-pyrotechnic coating that wasn’t nearly as good at “starting” BP engines.

THAT is why. No bull***t reasons as some others are claiming.

I’ll go on calling them igniters anyway. But then I don’t sell them, and am not an official of a rocket organization.

Fair enough George. I too will call them igniters. For much the same reason I'll continue to say rocket MOTOR vs. rocket engine. It's technically correct, regardless of what BATFE thinks.

I wish somebody would come out with an energy drink called "Igniter" so we could watch them wrangle with the feds!

I could care less what they are called as long as they ignite or start my motor....or is that engine? DUH.

Oh, don't re-start / re-ignite the motors/engines thing.

Even car companies can't keep it straight.

General MOTORS with cars that have a Check ENGINE light, for example

Either/either.

(as in... EEE-ther/ EYE-ther)
