I'm not even going to buy the popcorn for the rollout, much less an "on-schedule" launch.

Yeah, I haven't seen any one of the (coming up on) three rollouts yet. I was hoping for a daytime launch though (if this next attempt does come about) as it would give a better view of the overall vehicle during its first (and maybe only) flight. Still, a night time launch would be spectacular for a vehicle this size. It should be quite 'visual'. Earl

Will SLS go first or will Starship go first?
Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen... https://spacenews.com/nasa-predicts...on-as-december/ Bill

Considering NASA has been designing/building big rockets for 50+ years and SpaceX has only existed for 20 and never built anything big other than strapping 3 rockets together, I still pick Starship!

Though I am a SpaceX fan, I have to bet on SLS.
* The full Starship cluster has not been tested yet. * Not all of the needed permits have been secured. This is the kicker. Bureaucracy is slow and that is not even considering that Musk has made political enemies. Bill

SLS. It's silly for a story to quote NASA on when SpaceX will launch. Not even Elon Musk has made a recent claim of when Starship wil launch (I'm still recalling when he said Late July. Of 2021, saying that in early June, 2021). Last Launch date claim of 2022 that I recall him, or SpaceX, saying, was November 2022..... for the SECOND orbital flight. And if Elon Musk said today that the first one would fly in December, I'd figure, OK, at least March. BTW - I like SpaceX, but not the lying. I got fed up with that with the "Falcon Heavy in 6 months" claims, for many years. When in retrospect, it became crystal clear they knowingly lied when they started saying 6 months, when that was impossible given all the infrastructure it needed, which at the time they did not even have permits for (not even applied for in one case!). I also recall when Elon Musk hd a huge press conference, in September 2019, next to Starship SN#1, saying it would make its first test flight by the end of October, 2019. In early 2020, it blew up during a pressure test. But internally, SpaceX had already realized #1 was a lemon that was unflyable, so they did a max pressure test that blew it apart. Then they built and mostly scrapped 6 more, trying to get it right (showing how ludicrous it was that Elon Musk would say SN#1 would fly less than 2 months after his big public announcement. Was he really that much in the dark as to how badly the original was built/designed?). And finally, SN#8 flew, December 2020 (which crashed, as several more did. Finally got one to land safely, then immediately stopped testing rather than see if it was reliable). That first flight was over a year after Elon Musk said that Starship would fly.
