Very well made!

I purchased the same kit some 2 weeks ago. It's on my build pile

Yet another excellent build. Question: If you didn't use tape for masking the fins, how did you go about it? Those paint joints look like they were cut—they're very sharp and straight.

The tape was on the body of the rocket to paint the two fins a different color. I ran into trouble on another rocket where I wanted to leave a single fin the base color, and the body a different color. I had to put tape on the fin itself.

My latest project is the Centuri Power System Outfit. I've had it in the works for a pretty good while, but had some delays with out of stock SEMROC parts, wrinkled tubes, slooow drying enamels, etc. I want to thank Earl Cagle for shipping me some fish paper couplers....I owe him big time!

Here's the full spread. Obviously, some stuff is missing from the photo. I couldn't find a ping-pong ball, so a nerf golf ball substituted. I have a Power System Handbook, but I couldn't find it and had to print off the cover. I don't have a launch controller except for the one attached to my Powr-Pad so I just left that out. I subbed Estes motors except for the one Centuri C5-3S I still have. I've got a few Sure-shot ignitors, but no packaging...had to leave that out too along with a few other little bits in packets. I do have a couple of real vintage (and well used) Centuri chutes in there, but don't have a 20" to go with the 12" and 16" in the pic.

Sorry for the poor images. I was shooting in a cramped space with the zoom widened all the way out. It distorts the image and the extra bright flash from being in close washes things out. As usual, these pics were taken before clear coating or cleaning the decal glue residue off.

Individual pics of the various combinations.

Almost forgot. I had one other problem that I had to repair. I papered the fins with freezer paper. When I pulled the tape after masking off a fin, it pulled the paint and primer off. I scuffed the spot, filled with primer, sanded, and masked the whole fin off to paint white. Since it's enamel, that fin now has about a foot thick layer of paint!

Uh, dude, I know you live in the sticks, but come on. Couldn't you just hop on the Cannonball and see if Sam Drucker has some in the General Store?

No flying yet. As for the ping-pong ball, if I were going to put out the effort to catch the Cannonball to go to Drucker's store, I'd have put out the effort to move all that stuff to the kitchen where I'd have room to make better pictures!

I'd never seen the Power System Outfit. Very cool!

Barring the unlikely invention of a time machine, so I could go back and buy up all the old Centuri stuff I missed out on, I'd settle for some uber-rich dude to recreate Centuri. Not profitable? Who cares? It'd be fun!
