Default Semroc kit plans - is it time?

Is it time? Some effort should be made to archive plans of some of the Semroc kits.

Yep.

Does Semroc have their own plans? Kits? I thought they only clone Estes and Centuri kits. Wow I'm oblivious.

Sure they do. Semroc did things other than retro-repro.

There are Semroc creations, like the Goliath, Hydra I and VII, Vega, My Boid, VF-261, and many others.

Consider also that there is a considerable amount of information in various Retro-Repro type kits (old OOP Centuri, Estes, RDC, FSI, etc) that have carefully researched details that don't exist in either the JimZ and YORP plan archives. And some stuff in either of those two archives is either incorrect or incomplete.

Whoa. If there's something that is incorrect on YORP, I need people to let me know. Incomplete, some, but I hope not incorrect.

Sorry Scott, I was referring to both plan archives as a group. The most recent example that I encountered while cloning a Centuri Jaguar is an incorrect fin pattern on the JimZ site, and real fin patterns on YORP. Neither site has any dimensional data (length and diameter of body tube and nose cone). You can research this stuff by looking at Centuri catalogs, but a suitable airframe (18-inches of 29mm MMT) for the Jaguar never appeared in any Centuri catalog, which only offered lengths of 16- and 22-inches.

I'm sorry if I came across like I was taking a cheap shot at YORP. That was not my intention. I just wanted to point out that fine-grained detail like the example I just gave, multiplied by 100, is what may soon be lost. This sort of information is an important part Carl McLawhorn's legacy to our hobby. I just don't want it all to fade away over the years.

At this time there are 121 (more or less) instruction booklets available from Semroc in their document section. (plus many pattern sheets and shrouds.) Just saying...if there is a rocket you wish you had gotten, you can still get many (but not all) of the instructions.

(Well, shoot.....I may need to send in a third "final order" from SEMROC )

I have archived most of the pdf files for SEMROC kits.
I also have a friend that did some of the RocSims files.

So yell ( pm) if you want to pursue this.

maybe a little early.
