We never did a NCR by Estes version of the 2157 Saturn V (even though Mike Dorffler and I did all the the work to bring it back), that I can recall. It was a pure Estes release.

We had picked a target production run number for the kit. Right before we let the production purchase order for the vac forms, Barry got cold feet, and cut the order in half. We had already had 80%+ of the quantity in pre-orders, but I couldn't convince him to stick with the original production target.

By the time we released the kit, we were on the second production order because of his fears. His poor planning cost us a good amount of profit. But he knew more than anyone else.

Thanks Matt, I could have sworn those had NCRBE markings somewhere on the box (What I have left of my collection has been in storage for a over a year so didn’t have a chance to confirm).

More confirmation by Matt that I properly have an infinitely LOW opinion of BT running Estes.
I find it a near miracle the company survived that so-called "leadership".

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

There were a number of mistakes that Barry made by not understanding the market and where he could have taken Estes. Had he listened to the people he hired, the company would be much bigger now.

That said, he did a number of things that looked smart compared to what Hobbico did when they came in and took over. As hard as that is to believe!

We all know where Hobbico is now....
I think Estes is by far in the best hands since Vern owned it.
Now if we could just get B14s and C5s back.....
Or ANY port-burning BP SU motors for a REAL booster motor...

I sent this to Estes Customer Service yesterday:

"I see that the Saturn V (#1969) with the LEM bonus is pretty much unavailable anywhere anymore. I thought that I had read last spring that there would be a limited amount with the LEM bonus and then a run without the bonus LEM

My question is....will there be another supply of the Saturn V coming out in the near future? If so, when are you hoping that to happen?

Thanks so much, "

Here is their very quick response:

"There is discussion for later in 2020. Stay tuned and watch our Facebook page. It will be announced there first.
Thank you. "
