Could someone with a scion kit do me a huge favour?
If it is still in the bag, please measure the solid length of the kit, that is, if there is extra bag plastic on the end that can be folded over, do not include this.
I read somewhere that the body tubes are 21.5" long, but I think maybe the coupler and nosecone may add extra length.

I think I may have stuffed up with my freight forwarder (US to Australia) as the largest box they have for consolidating packages is 26" long.

Thanks in advance.

OK, here's the word:

I measured my Scion kit as it came. The PNC is inserted tip first into one of the 21.5" body tubes, making the max solid length 26.5".

However, because the parts are loosely packaged, through much coaxing and manuvering I was able to free the PNC from the body tube and place it alongside the body tube and I was able to insert the coupler into one of the body tubes--all without opening the bag, making the new solid length 22.0". There is no hange tag on the kit.

Awesome. Cheers, you're a legend Jeff!
Unfortunately I won't be able to instruct the forwarder to do that for me, likely they would be rough and damage a tube.
I'll have to have that package sent on its own rather than consolidated. Will cost me US$70 which is almost the same as the huge consolidated box. Ouch. Spread out over 3 kits tho so not entirely bad.

Oh well, it free's up space in the consolidated package for more smaller kits

Cheers again.

Default the new Redstone!

I got my MR kit today! I haven't slit it open yet, but my first impressions are quite favorable. FULL LENGTH (19.5625") glassine main BT! Capsule and LES parts molded in red styrene. Laser-cut balsa fins instead of plastic. Definitely NOT for kids this time!

Very nice.

Looks good. Hopefully you have an orange/white chute. Even though the Estes pattern doesn't match the Mercury chutes, using the correct colors makes a big difference. I've yet to see NASA recover anything under a purple canopy!

Estes/John did an excellent job on the kit itself. Good job, sirs.

Just because it says it's out of stock on the Estes web site doesn't mean you couldn't by one locally or at other online vendors. It would most likely cost you less as well.
