Default Gathering info for my 1/100th scale Saturn V, MLP and LUT

Just thought I'd drop in here and see who might have some ideas on where I can obtain schematics of the Apollo-era Saturn V MLP and LUT for my 1/100th scale Saturn V project.

I recently nabbed a 1990s Estes Saturn V kit (#2001) and am soon starting on it.

Ralph-

Try this LUT group at this link: https://groups.io/g/LUTGroup

Possibly you know about that group, but in case you don’t it might be very helpful. I have not been there in a long, long time, but there was lots of info available there in the past.

Good luck with your project!

Earl

Default Getting back to you, a year late ... Apologies.

Hello Earl,

Thank you kindly for the link. Life has taken priority over this wonderful hobby as, I am sure, so many fellow hobbyists are experiencing. But, yes! I DO know of the group you'd mentioned and hopefully, I can become more active there as well as here.

Oh, I've decided to make a slight shift to 1/96th scale. A bit too timid at going to something on a larger scale. I 'm trying to find a mid ground for my collection that would be functional and "display-able".

Thank you again for the link.

Ralph

In case you are looking more towards the final result and not the "fun" of scratch building, there's at least one pretty decent looking 3D file set out there:

That's from 2015. Might be something even better out there.

Of course, it would not be cheap to get the parts printed at that size, unless you know someone with a 3D printer who would not charge you "pro" level prices.

Not sure if you are aware, but the Saturn V kits after the 2001 are much better kits that include the Centuri-style Plastic wraps.
I built a 2001 kit back when it was in production and it is basically the same as the old original K-36 kit, with ridiculously large fins. Now I see that kit only having "collector" value compared to the newer ones.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

George-there is also a 3D print plan for the LUT crane that looks great. A lower tech solution is to kitbash the Vonado.com Saturn LUT model from 1/110 to 1/100 height. The set uses knock off Lego pieces. The Vonado model has some issues, but makes a decent stand-off scale representation if the crane is replaced with a scratch build. The Lego/Vonado crane is pretty bad.
