Default I didn't know where to put this, a boat

My wife and her sister went to visit their brother on the other side of the state back in early March.

They picked up two boat kits from my sister-in-law that she found at an estate sale for an embarrassingly low price. They gave them to me.

Then a few days later we were on lockdown so I thought I would build one.

They are from a company in Spain and are quite complete.

I added the motor (05 electric motor about 40 years old) and all the stuff I had in stock to make it radio controlled.

This was an all new hobby for me but since I can only watch Netflix, Hulu or Prime for just so long I started building.

I completed the model last night.

This was a lot of fun to build. I learned a lot of new techniques building this.

(Youtube is my friend!)

The third pic is a poster I found online. It's Bubba Blue describing ways to prepare shrimp.
BTW notice I renamed the boat JENNY. Yes, I really like the movie Forest Gump.

Love it! I've always liked a good ship model, and yours is (naturally) very well done!

I just bought the 1:200 scale Titanic from Trumpeter. She's a monster (a smidge over 4' long). Comes with LED lights, but only for the upper decks. Looks like I'll be spending many, many nights opening portholes in the hull!

Keep the photos coming. Would love to see her "in her element" on your local lake, pond, or pool!

I do have a two channel single stick rc transmitter and throttle control but it’s 40 years old and in another boat I built 40 years ago.

Does anybody who knows RC out in forum land know if it’s still legal to use it?

If it is on 72 or 75Mhz and was 1991 "Gold Stickered" as narrow-band it is legal to use.

I still use some of my narrow-banded stuff from the 70's/80's but have mostly converted to 2.4Ghz.

I have Futaba 8JN, Futaba 7FGK, and Hitec Flash 5 transmitters I use occasionally, but mostly use a modern Graupner 2.4Ghz MZ-24 transmitter that has full telemetry.

Model boats are a great challenge and a good change from the rocket builds.
I have three ship kits I haven't started yet. You can find them cheap on Ebay.
So, did you dye the sails (rolled on the deck) by soaking them in steeped tea?
That's what I've done in the past.

The only RC model boats I have done are inboards powered by snarlin 2-stroke UN-MUFFLED tuned pipe equipped engines burning 40%+ Nitromethane fuel. Lots of SPEED and NOISE.

Rolled on the deck are the nets (simulated) and I dyed them in tea (English Breakfast).

The only RC boat I ever built before is Balao class WW2 submarine.

And yes, it does submerge but more importantly, it does comE back up.

Not a ton of "Building" per se on the boats I have done as they were all fiberglass hulls.
More like "assembly" and finishing.

I have mentioned it in the past, I have also built three full sized boats, a 14' sailboat, a 13' rowboat and a canoe. The canoe and rowboat were plans, the sailboat was 35 pages of blueprints.

A lot of building.
