Back in 2012 I ordered nose cones and tubes from Semroc for a 200% Upscale using a ST-20 for the booster but I don't recall the glider size. I used 2 hooks on the glider to keep it from flapping. Had a friend print the decals. This was for theclassic model event at ECRM .

24-40 RMS F24-4 and the F39-3 IIRC, the F24 was a better flight being a little slower boost.

During the vNARCON 2022 Manufacturers' Forum Randy Boadway provided some details on the upscale Oribital Transport kit Semroc is planning to release.

It will have a 29mm motor mount.

The sustainer section will use ST-20 size tubing (2.04" diameter). Randy stated that all future Semroc kit releases will use Centuri-sized tubing as the wall thickness is greater than the Estes similar sized tubing which will make the models more durable.

The nose cones will be plastic (I think they're 3D printed). Randy showed off the glider which has an actual molded cockpit windscreen on the nose cone.

Randy did not mention a price and I don't recall if he offered a release date. He did state he was having trouble with getting a supply of balsa.

He did say for sure that the glider nose cone will be 3D printed, he said the other cones are all new and plastic but I don’t recall if he said specifically that they’re printed.

I heard that too, and I wish he would have elaborated. The smallest common size of ST-5/BT-5 are the same at 0.013", nest size up are thicker (ST-7/9 vs BT-20/50) at 0.020", yet larger sizes (ST-13 through ST-20 vs BT-55 through BT-70) have essentially the same thickness of 0.020".

There's some inconsistency in diameters from different sources, for example BT-60/ST-16 are somtimes listed the same (https://www.erockets.biz/body-tube-sizes/), sometimes different (http://www.ninfinger.org/rockets/body_tubes.html), giving thickness of 0.020" or 0.021" depending on source. What am I missing?

Has there been ANY new word on the supposed upscaled Orbital Transport from Semroc ?
This thing appears "dead in the water" since about a year ago.
Was hoping to get one of these as it was supposed to be bigger than the only modestly size-increased Estes "super" OT.

I want one the size of the old "Hawk's Hobby" one (BT60/BT55 based) or larger.
Was hoping the Semroc one would be ST20/ST16 based for 29mm power.

What gives with this one ???

I asked Randy if this was still coming when I was out there a few months ago and he didn't give me a definite answer. He went on to explain their agreement with Estes on using their designs while the rockets were out of production.

With the Orbital Transport back in production from Estes I would think that it is safe to say they will not release one until Estes discontinues it again. I can tell you that he had a fair amount of the nose cones printed so my guess would be that we will see one from Semroc after Estes has halted production.

Ughhhhhh.
More deeeelayyyyys.
We get the dinky one from Estes instead of a real worthwhile sized upscale.
