Default Mad Science rocket

I was intrigued by this thread , so I jumped at the chance to buy one of these on eBay when it showed up at a reasonable price ($20).

However, it wasn't what I expected, and it sure wasn't an Estes kit. It was an oddball fantasy design, with a chrome foot long, ~BT-50 body tube and plastic fins and nose. The plastic parts are kinda flimsy - the closest analogy I can think of is some old MRC parts. The base of the nose cone snaps in, allowing for a "payload".

The body tube is in bad shape - it will need to be replaced.

Anyway, here are some pics...

Here are screenshots of the instructions. If there is interest I can upload a scan of the instructions and stickers to Scott.

I purchased one of these kits a few years ago. It was shipped in an envelope, so I also had to replace the tube. It was a curiosity, so I built it and flew it. Flew great, but found a roof on its first flight. Never did recover it...

Wow, you need to do a review on this. Major comic possibilities.

Ya got me - everything is soft plastic, save for the body tube.

Did the nose cone come filled with stale candy, which could be eaten, chewed, or used as balancing weight?

Now that's a very interesting find.. and certainly not at all like the Saturn rocket pictured on the front of the kit package. !

I don't recall ever having seen this particular kit before, even though it's apparently gone through a few iterations over the years:

Skyblazer
https://www.rocketreviews.com/mad-s...tt-gillard.html

Skyblazer II
https://westnewengland.madscience.o...nstructions.pdf

At any rate, it's a fun little design, what with the forward nose fins and the (what I can imagine to be) depleted uranium warhead. Enjoy!
