Only two of the E9's lit? How many in the cluster (total), and what kind of igniters did you use? If you want to be on the safe side on your valuable clustered models, use the QuickBurst Hot Shot igniters for reliability...they're just about the same as using flashbulb ignition. Tomorrow, I'll be at the Gulf Coast Regional meet at JSC (NASA) in Clear Lake, TX and will be entering (and flying) my Estes Maxi-Brute STAR WARS X-Wing for the Future Scale/Science Fiction event. It will be powered by a D12-5 and four A10-PT's. Wish me luck!

There were only 3 total. If you look closely you can see the one igniter dangling No real excuse for it but Chris Taylor wanted a better pic of it on the pad so I turned it and forgot to re-check the igniters. The one that didn't ignite got twisted and shorted the wires. It landed in tall grass and it was just fine. A little dirty 'cause it landed in the soot left from the fire but the weeds still cushened the fall.

The Maxi-Brute STAR WARS X-Wing was entered AND flown at JSC yesterday as advertised; using the QuickBurst Hot Shot igniters, all five motors (D12-5/ four A10-PT's) ignited right on cue and the big X-Wing did get off the pad alright. My main concern just prior to launch was the pavement area we were launching from, and the rather lack of crosswind at the time of launch. Turns out the five second delay of the D12 was a bit too long (the altitude wasn't what I was expecting), and the twin 18" parachutes didn't have the chance to fully deploy to help carry the model into the grassy area. The result was a rather hard touchdown on the pavement, with much of the right side of both wings and components breaking into numerous pieces. The flight was nevertheless ruled qualified, and dispite the flight damage, still won out first place in the combined Division C/Team category in stiff competition. A number of those present took plenty of pics that should be posted soon; when they are, I'll provide the link(s). In the meantime, I've already started the repair process of this giant X-Wing; in fact, the repairs are already more than 75% complete! When completed (the repairs), most won't even be able to tell this model suffered such severe damage!

that includes a number of fantastic in-flight shots of the X-Wing and others: http://www.nasarocketclub.com/gallery/album23?page=1 Also go to pages 4 and 5...
