Thanks for the source of "wide" #24 blades.
By the way, those "big honker" old #6 handles have been dated pre-1952. The 1952 Xacto catalog Earl posted already showed the "new" current/modern style #6 handle. I did not expect them to be that old.

This thread started me looking through all of the various shoe boxes and re-purposed Estes and Centuri cardboard 'Range Boxes' that are stuffed with odds and ends to consolidate my X-acto tools, and I managed to locate the 2 extra chucks that came with this set. Another reason to thank GH! Not to mention a shout out to Earl for the scanned catalogues - Thanks!

A little further info on Xacto blades:
#29 and #30 exist. #30 is the blade for the little "Spoke Shave" tool. #29 is the blade for the little "Block Plane" tool. I have not been able to find any info on the following blade numbers: 1, 3, 5, 6, and 20, One would think those exist, but I have found nothing. Maybe they were very old and discontinued long ago. Found out a #21 blade does exist. It is just a Stainless steel version of the #11. There is also a #15 saw blade. It is a thin keyhole saw.

Here is a listing for a very old #86 knife set with what appears to be one of the old, extra-large #6 handles.

That's definitely the "Big Honker" old #6, even with a #25 blade, which is what I keep in mine.

Here is another one of the big knives as part of one of those #80 Whittler’s set like the ones from a couple months ago with the wooden box, but this one is not as minty as those previous ones. But not bad, either.

Currently in-process of getting another "Big Honker" #6 in an old 3-knife set on ebay.
The box is really beat-up and will be scrapped. The knives will be used to fill other sets. Has old "wider" #24 and #19 blades. Based on the 1952 catalog, we know this set must be pre 1952. The box outsides look like it was beaten up outdoors in decades of desert sandstorms. Not salvageable. The inner contents look amazing based on the outsides.

Must be the one back up in post #254. That one seems to have gotten several bids. Well, at least there is an option if that one falls through. Earl

Though these are not the hard to find #24 blades, it is a vintage box of 100 of the somewhat similar #19 blades.

I was using the smaller #6 some today. It’s going to be tough to top those #80 Whittler’s sets that Earl turned us on to. That purchase kind of spoiled me. In hindsight, I should have bought two. Those are so pristine it’s like they came from an Xacto museum even the cardboard boxes were spotless.
