Default Interceptors and siblings - Quest Intruder

To get in on the game of Interceptor-like rockets, Quest produced the Intruder.

It's a bit simpler of a version.

It still has 2 wings with strakes, 2 vertical stabilizers with strakes, and 2 skids. But, they are based on a QT-25 tube (0.984") instead of a BT55 tube (1.325"). So's smaller. It also doesn't have pods on the end of the wins, or the pokey things on the tip of the stabilizers.

The nose is also a simple ogive nose and there is no cockpit included, or to add to the nose. IT's all done with a decal.

In fact, there are far fewer decals than in the Interceptor. But, they are evocative of the same general layout.

I didn't have a real kit, so I cloned it based on information I found online. Cut the fins with a laser, drew up the decals and printed them with a laser printer, and 3D printed a nose.

Assembly was really easy. The strakes were glued to the wings and fins. When dried, they were glued to the body. The skids and vertical stabilizers were conveniently located for fin guides to work. The wings were just placed on the body, and the wing tips drooped until they made contact with the table top. It was was less difficult to position these than the Interceptor fins.

Quest doesn't use the trifold mount for the shock cord. They fasten a piece of Kevlar to the engine mount, and then fasten the shock cord to that.

I would have liked to see someone produce a MORE COMPLICATED version of the Astron Interceptor, NOT a LESS complicated one.
It needed underwing missiles/weapons at least.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC !

That would be something similar to this?

It's another build I'm working on to add to the family.

That's where scrap bits of wood and imagination come in to play.
My son's lightly modified Intruder.

That intruder with pods and pokey things on the stabilizers just looks really cool.

He was proud of it. He spent several hours looking at my decal files, resizing, redrawing, etc. until he was happy with them. IIRC, there are bits from the Intruder, Interceptor, Vindecator, and Cherokee D, and probably others too. We discussed various pod shapes before he went with simple ones. The toothpicks just had to be on there because of the Interceptor inspiration.

I can't get GH to clone a simple kit, much less kitbash something fancy.

Since the build was so easy on this kit, no more photos of the process.

Just gray build up primer, sanding, white primer, painting, and decals.

A finished build photo, before getting dressed with the decals, and a family photo with decals applied.
