Default New Javelin kit from NCR

I just stumbled over this. It looks great! I hope the price is a place holder or a typo because this one of my all time favorites and I can’t afford a $499 kit. It violates my “no kits that cost more than a car payment rule”. Nice job on the kit Matt, as I stated, it looks terrific!

I had to go see what all the excitement was! Nice looking kit, but as Matt says in the text, it is no doubt an expensive kit. Looks sharp though!!

Matt Steele has been posting pix of the rocket and the 3D printed parts on the Rocketry, USA FB page. Two sentences tell me it’s probably not a placeholder price: “There is no doubt that this is an expensive kit – the 3D printed parts are a substantial part of the cost.” and “Shipping December 15, available for pre-order now.”. Looks like it’s a buck shy of a 500 dollar rocket. But, from the look of the 3D printed parts, your going to get near injection molded quality. Way out of my league - $100 is my mental light speed barrier

Wayyyyy out of my price league too, especially for a "G" sized kit.
A lot of L2 projects have nowhere near $500 in them.

Yeah, $100 is about my limit. I only have an Apogee S1b because I was one of the people to sign up for one first and waited for many months for it to arrive. That was years ago. If I did spring for the kit, I would never fly it. Oh well.

rraeford,

I’m with you. The most expensive kit I have bought is an Estes Saturn V, re-released and sold at the Estes booth in NARAM-52 in Pueblo. I have production kit #13.

The most expensive kit I have (my wife bought it for me, as a surprise Christmas gift) is the Apogee Saturn 1B.

No typo. This is a deluxe kit in every sense of the word, and Matt is not making much off of each kit due to the extensive 3d printing used in this kit. All SLA printing. Only selling it though the website, not through Apogee or eRockets.biz.

The rocket looks really good in the pictures posted on FB. Though I won’t be buying one I’m looking forward to the first video of one modified for a three stage flight - you know someone will do that!

There’s no doubt it is a beautiful Kit. I was just hoping for a nice scale kit. This is a next level scale kit at a next level price. It’s kind of like the Corvette, every time they come out with a new one, it’s price is a little further out of reach. Please don’t take this as criticism. I applaud Matt making this kit the same way I applaud Estes for reworking and releasing their scale kits and Boyce for their scale kits.

While this appears to be a great scale rocket, I just can't see this price point as acceptable for anything of this size.
I hope Matt sells a boatload of them, but I just can't see it happening.
