The 'Model rocketry competition is too expensive for children' is a false excuse for 'creating' the NRC. There will always be people who cannot participate in something that interests them whether it is collecting marbles or Ferarris. This 'secret' group of long time NAR BTCs picked a low-hanging fruit excuse to change competition to the way they wanted it.

If the NAR does not come up with a way to channel the interest and enthusiasm of these Junior FAI fliers into future competition (The NRC is not the answer) then NAR competition will disappear after the 'old guard' is gone.

"wrested control..." indeed. More like "kept flying competition" while "all the ones with the bright ideas" were no shows. This is a twisted and very revisionist way of looking at model rocketry history. Yeah... that's going to work. Shame on you.

Count me out of your "grand vision" as it is unfolding here.

Thanks Bob.

I will work in some NARAM stories here at some point.

So how does just keep flying current competition events preserve NAR competition for the future?

You won't have any competition flying if people don't fly it. Use it or loose it. You are not a competition flier so I can guess where you stand on this issue. But you need not remain in that condition. Why don't you host some contest events where you live?

People have been proposing new events for decades - and the special sauce hasn't come out of proposing new events. But that's for y'all to figure out (again). Meanwhile Steve (Gus) et al. are working the problem and are enjoying success without introducing new events.

Ignoring all that, I'm trying new and different events locally. This will be our fourth "meet" doing this. In May we are flying:

F Star Orbiter Altitude
C Big Bertha Duration
Baby Bertha Kit Bash
Spot Landing

What are you doing?

Are plans in the works for NARAM to do a special launch or some type of presentation in honor of Ms. Gleda?

I think there was a line or mention in the obit that referred to things about her that would happen at NARAM, I seem to recall.
