Default Brodak/Randolph Sanding Sealer...

Hi all,

I ordered some Brodak sanding sealer & other goodies yesterday to use with some of their rep-pop 1/2A Goldberg and Top Flite C/L models
and their Goldberg based Shoestring and Buster .35 planes that I received last year.

It's the new Rand-O-Fil silver replacement of the older stuff. It's supposed
to hit their warehouse today.

Sounds good to me-metallics show ALL imperfections!

Bob
p.s. haven't used silkspan/silk & dope since '81. It was a TeeDee .020 powered
pulse rudder only Nomad II sailplane. It was built on a dorm porta-closet
flipped on its side; priorities y'know..

I think I'd rather use Sig than that Silver stuff.

One can also make their own sanding sealer by dissolving white or clear styrene into Clear Butyrate Dope.
Balsa Fillercoat too... That is talcum dissolved in Clear dope.

Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL
, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't !

Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY.
ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, TURMOIL, FIASCOS, and HAVOC !

I may try talcum powder in clear dope. I bought industrial talcum powder from Amazon for around $18 per quart. It’s recommended as additive for epoxy or polyester resin. I bought it mostly for dusting plastic chutes. If it works for making fillercoat, it’s possible I could actually use it up in my remaining years on planet Earth.

Looks like I should've ordered a larger can last time! I'll be interested to hear how this works. I've been using the "Deluxe Products" Sand 'n Seal, since I don't have a ventilated area at the momet, but it definitely doesn't work as well as Aero-Gloss.

Sig has closed their doors, hopefully they are just moving to another location but it is not looking good.

The new (and former) owner is moving Sig’s operations to the Chicago area.

I sure hope so, but so far it is not looking good. A lot of unhappy model builders that have not received their orders or refunds. I am cheering for Sig and hoping they come back.
