Now for another variant.

Gordy posted a picture of the free Golden Scout kits given out by Vern and Gleda (and Semroc) at NARAM 50. It was a truly wonderful gesture.

The idea for the Golden Scouts came from The Rocket Doctor (Ken M.) and was put into reality by Carl, Sheryl, and Bruce at Semroc. All six of these people deserve a very special thanks for creating such a fitting tribute to the 50th anniversary of the NAR and Estes.

But Vern and Gleda took it one step further. Each year for the Cannon Educational Fund of the NAR they donate something special to be auctioned at NARAM. For NARAM 50 Vern and Gleda recreated four Scout kits with hand-rolled body tubes, just like the original ones they had made 50 years ago. To add special significance to these kits Gleda and Vern each signed the paper before it was rolled into tubes so their signatures would appear inside the tubes.

You can see their signatures inside the tubes in the pics below. A very special donation by two very special people.

All...really pleased with the responses. I learned sometime today concerning the original brown/red shipping tube.

If you don't mind, I will use these images and update the Estes kit database with a 1961 listing.

Thankl you

Here is my original Astron Scout I got from a friend many years ago.
No BT or NC and the fins are somewhere safe.

Default Estes Kit Pictorial Module for Estes Kit Website

All....

Light bulb went on last night for new Estes kit website module.

Please check these two links and hope to hear feedback.

http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/...orial_index.htm

http://www.seateddimevarieties.com/...ctorials/k1.htm

This is considerable project but if forum members collectively work on a few models at once, we can pull this off.

Vern gave me one of those at the NARAM 50 awards banquet. I took it back home and had it mounted and framed. It's hanging in our front hall, a treasure beyond measure.
