Default K-15 Sprite No Hang Tag Kit Chronology

Quick question. Which came first? K-15 green and gray lettering on white instruction card or red and black lettering on white instruction card.

My assumption in the kit pictorial guide is that the green and gray lettering kits were issued in 1964-1965 as packaged in gusset with no pleat.

One can find the red and black lettering kit with and without the free kit hangtag sticker which indicates later release.

Advice or comments? Thanks

I have a hunch that the red/black type is the earlier variety and that the green/grey printing was a later issue. Possibly done as an experiment in visual appeal, or even just on a whim. It's possible that later printings of red/black 'sandwiched' the green/grey. My reason for postulating this is that the earliest Sprite kits were designated 'Kit No. 641-K-15' in the top right corner, and I'm pretty sure the only ones of those I have seen were red/black print. In later years Estes dropped the catalog # prefix when identifying their kits.

By the way, I also suspect that the green/grey type is the rarer color variety.

Joe.....

Many thanks. As a result of your comments and informed insight, I will list the green/gray and red/black kits in the 1964-1967 timeframe for now.

I agree that the green/gray version instruction is very rare.

Gerry

Joe, could you kindly check this link and the individual Sprite description pages and tell me if you agree or suggest some changes? Thanks

Next up is the Gyroc which also has green lettered instruction facecard.

Gerry, here is an image of the pre-Damon Sprite 'bullseye' instructions. These came in a yellow hangtag kit.
