June launch by the skin of my teeth
Trying to get a flight every month this year, but our launch this past weekend was cancelled by higher than acceptable winds, so I had to scramble. B6-4 Field was empty after dinner last night, so I packed a box of low and slow birds, the Semroc Jupiter B, Quest Area 51 Saucer, Squirrel Works Rockets Ahoy, Estes Quinstar and Space Corps Lunar Scout, and set up with my new launcher. The first off was the Jupiter B on a B6-0. The slutty igniter/new launcher combo was flawless. Figuring out how to use the new launcher AND film with my phone is going to take some new dance steps. I loaded the Rockets Ahoy next, also on a B6-0. No love, so I tried the newly built Space Corps Lunar Scout and go the same result. They were pretty high up on the rod and I think the weight of the wires may have been working against me. I was going to swap in the Quinstar, but the flies became unbearable. Not a dance I want to repeat. Got my flight in, but I might try the rest tomorrow night if the expected rain flames on us.

You can always get a launch in every month.
If the weather is lousy, grab a "fire-n-forget" type like an Estes Yankee, Wizard, or Spin-Fin, Jam an Aerotech or Quest 18mm D21-4 in it, launch, watch, and FORGET recovery. Even Better: Do it at night with some sort of firework payload to be ignited by the ejection charge.

Many, many, many years ago it was popular in my neighborhood to launch M150s/Quarter Sticks/Blockbusters atop FSI F7-0 engines stabilized "bottle rocket" style.
D12-0s topped with Silver Salutes/M100s worked well also, so did Cherry Bombs atop C5-0s. Those deals were LOUD and could be heard for miles. Last time that happened I know of was the 4th of July around 1990 or 91. Since 9/11 and the BATFE crackdown on "good" firecrackers, real M80s, M100s, Silver Salutes, Cherry Bombs, Blockbusters, and Quarter Sticks have become rarer than Ferraris cruising slum neighborhoods.

I never admitted to doing any of this, but the engines usually just had dowels taped to them to stabilize "bottle rocket" style, with the "payload" taped into the forward end.
When actual "rockets" were used, they were usually beat-up BT20 or BT50 sized. Selections included Wizards, Yankees, Spin Fins, Alpha IIIs, Gammas, and an odd Polaris or two. Sometimes we strapped large Horse Brand Tri Color or Glitterous Lights fountain fireworks atop booster engines stabilized with sticks. While fountains are boring on the ground, they are quite cool at 1000+ feet of altitude. The 27mm F7 (and E60) FSI Engines always got stick launched. As most know, an F7 can barely lift it's own weight, and most E60s blow up like an M80.
