When in doubt, WHACK the GAS and DITCH the brake !!! Yes, there is such a thing as NORMAL, if you have to ask what is "NORMAL" , you probably aren't ! Failure may not be an OPTION, but it is ALWAYS a POSSIBILITY. ALL systems are GO for MAYHEM, CHAOS, and HAVOC ! |

That's about the size of it, isn't it? The 8-second delay would be about right for the LOC IRIS "park flyer" I'm bringing along. It did nicely on a 50 N-s F39-6 on its maiden (pre paint-job flight).

I have an original Aero-Dart (1968 version). Since Mini-Max BP motors aren't available, I'll fly it on one of these!
Uh, once I finally build it.

I wonder if this "Classic Propellant" will be the original ENERJET "APP60", with Polyurethane as the Binder ?

good question. I was thinking the same thing. Now only if Estes would put some red iron oxide or titanium sponge in their BP motors.....so we could have some classic pyrotechnic propellants. You know have some gold and silver sparkies.....

IIRC from the episode of The Rocketry Show/Model Rocket Show (they’ve interviewed Gary on both shows) it isn’t the original propellant but a reformulation of one of RCS/Aerotech’s current propellants that simulates the original as close as possible. I think Gary mentioned something about difficulty in manufacturing something different than what they make now. |
