Default Space-X to the Rescue

Space-X will ferry two NASA astronauts that were slated to fly on Starliner. It seems that Starliner so far behind, NASA needed to get them on a Space-X mission to get experience for future missions.

Space-X will have another new Dragon capsule next month and is slated for another sometime after Christmas, doubling their current inventory. It doesn't sound like much of a "fleet" until you think about them being reusable.

Chinese calendar notwithstanding, this has been the year of the Dragon.

Not surprised at all NASA had to schedule with SpaceX instead of the JOKEliner.

It will be a larger fleet than Virgin Galactic or Blue Origin and tying the operational NASA Space Shuttle at its peak.

Yes, and I'm thinking all through the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs that they probably never had more than two flight ready capsules at any given time.

Space-X says their Dragon ships are certified for up to five flights. I wonder if they will be able to extend their service lives after five. I'm hoping they can.

I hope so too.
Maybe they can be "re-skinned".
That would have to be designed in though.
