Looking for a free plan
Hi i am very interested in rocketry and i own a few rockets. I recently got the idea to try to make the "XFLR-7" wich appeared in one of the tintin comics and is sometimes called the moon rocket. So what im asking is does any of you got plans for this model .

I believe this is the rocket, for those not familiar with the design. I wasn't, and did a quick GOOGLE to find something. This comes from an Australian rocketry forum: XFLR-7 Image You could probably start with the nose and tail cones from a V-2, as most of these 1950s designs usually did. That would make it a BT-55 size. Just noticed this kit: http://www.modelminutes.us/catalog.html The advert says A-D motors, made from paper and cardboard, 19" tall, with flight altitudes up to 575'. The kit sells for ~$12.

Or start with a Canadian Arrow if you wanted to go bigger. The nice thing about a bird like this is that you can plan as you go.

This one isn't free, but it isn't very expensive ($12.00):

There's a scale diagram in the Spaceship Handbook.
I made one from BMS BT-55 "V2" parts. Despite the big swept-back fins, it's going to need noseweight. Right now it has a coat of white paint. I'm kind of intimidated by the checkerboard pattern. It's going to either require careful masking or careful application of trim monokote. |
