A "few hundred more to go?" And I thought I had a back log of kits.

I still use some of the Rusto 2X but never use their Gloss White.
That seems to be the one that sprays out the cottage cheese rough paint.
I'll have to add the Spring Green to the do not use list.

They have an enamel and a lacquer version. The lacquer paint always works for me. You just can't spray in as high a humidity as you can with enamel.

I said earlier it only comes in black, white and red. They've actually added three or four more colors to it. However, they do have an automotive line of lacquer spray paints with more colors to choose from. I've just never seen it in any stores.

"Specialty Lacquer" - black, white, red and now pink, turquoise, navy, yellow
"Premium Custom Lacquer" - 13 colors

I finished the Maverick yesterday, not bad for a 3 day build.

I don't know if Rust-Oleum is making their paints, but they both are part of the RPM International company along with Zinsser and DAP.

That makes me wonder: who did the artwork for the scenic Estes kit face cards? An Estes employee or a freelancer?

BTW, the Estes Sentinel face card was always one of my favorites.

Piester has mentioned hiring graphic artists for Centuri. Estes may have also. I don't remember if any of the kit designers did artwork beyond graphics on the model designs.

Yes, Centuri was very graphics-centric for the times and in their latter 60s and early 70s catalogs displayed a great deal of effort to put the best possible image on their products. We are of course used to much slicker graphics and print media presentations today, but for that time period, they did a great job.

While the '71 catalog is my heart's favorite (it was my first rocket catalog ever), the 1972 Centuri catalog was a wonderful production and featured an outstanding layout of images and products.

Great work on the Maverick!

I was fortunate to get a tour of the Centuri plant from Larry Brown.
They had two guys working at a light table doing paste up.

The 1971 catalog was primarily printed "Duo-tone" - two colors of ink on a white background.
I brought the 1974 catalog to the print shop I was working at to show it to the head artist. He was impressed.
I always liked that the models looked looked like they were in flight.
